1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using AuthorKit, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our platform.

2. Account Terms

  • *You must be at least 18 years old to use AuthorKit
  • *You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password
  • *You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • *You may not use AuthorKit for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • *One person or legal entity may not maintain more than one free account

3. Content Ownership & Rights

Your Content

You retain all rights, title, and ownership to the content you create on AuthorKit (manuscripts, books, covers, etc.). We claim no intellectual property rights over your work.

Limited License

By using AuthorKit, you grant us a limited license to host, store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing our services. This license terminates when you delete your content or account.

Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for your content and ensuring you have all necessary rights to publish and sell it. AuthorKit is not responsible for copyright infringement, defamation, or other legal issues arising from your content.

4. Payment & Billing

  • *Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually at the current rate
  • *All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
  • *You keep 85% of all book sales made through AuthorKit Bookstore
  • *AuthorKit takes 15% of sales to cover payment processing, hosting, and platform costs
  • *Payouts are processed monthly via Stripe Connect (minimum $25 balance)

5. Cancellation & Termination

Your Rights

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation, you'll retain access until the end of your current billing period. You can also delete your account and all associated data at any time.

Our Rights

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse our platform. We will provide notice when possible, but reserve the right to immediately suspend accounts in cases of severe violations.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use AuthorKit to:

  • XViolate any laws or regulations
  • XInfringe on intellectual property rights of others
  • XPublish illegal, harmful, or offensive content
  • XSpam, phish, or engage in fraudulent activities
  • XAttempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • XInterfere with or disrupt the platform or servers

7. Service Changes

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of AuthorKit at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes that affect your use of the platform. Prices may change with 30 days' notice for existing subscribers.

8. Limitation of Liability

AuthorKit is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • *We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • *Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months
  • *We are not responsible for loss of data (though we maintain regular backups)
  • *We are not liable for issues with third-party services we integrate with

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold AuthorKit harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your content, or your violation of these terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the platform. Continued use of AuthorKit after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
